(Woman, Sea & Lover)
Hand in hand they walk together, day by day their love has grown,
in her mind, theyre always dancing - but she knows theyre not alone,
when the song of sail and breaker swiftly drowns her silent plea
she sees his gaze grow soft and wander - for her lover loves the sea,
she sees his gaze grow soft and wander - for her lover loves the sea.
How hes struggled to explain the spell of distance, wind and birds,
yet his hearts attuned to silence and he cannot find the words,
thus their tender smiles and glances go astray, as it will be
when a woman loves her lover, but her lover loves the sea,
when a woman loves her lover, but her lover loves the sea.
She has tried to soothe her envy, tried to quietly abide,
she has tried to live with loss and to dismiss the fear inside,
she has tried to loathe and scorn him, she has tried to set him free -
yet she loves her gentle lover like her lover loves the sea,
yes, she loves her gentle lover like her lover loves the sea.
(Interlude)
Now they share a shy contentment, drawing closer year by year,
he has toiled to tame his longing, she has learned to woo her fear,
yet in her mind, she sees them dancing through the ages, three by three,
always woman, sea and lover - - - lover, woman and the sea,
always woman, sea and lover - - - lover, woman and the sea.
